Job Overview:
The Product Management team is responsible for the strategic direction of the product and the articulation of that vision into a comprehensive business plan in collaboration with the management team, sales and marketing and product development.
As a key member of the Product Management Team, the Product Manager is focused on taking new product ideas from concept to reality by understanding the market opportunities, developing and communicating product specifications to key stakeholders, helping guide the development and QA processes to ensure the product functions as required, and participating in go-to-market activities. The Product Manager is actively engaged in the product design process with a specific focus on ensuring a satisfactory and consistent user experience and user interface across solutions.
Responsibilities/Duties:
● Engage in product and market research to understand the market, competitive landscape, and opportunities.
● Interface with sales, field services, business partners, industry analysts, and customers to gather feedback on the current product and input on future requirements.
● Assist in the development, communication, and implementation of a comprehensive product roadmap.
● Working collaboratively with product development, develop comprehensive functional specifications for new products/features and assist in all processes required to bring the product or feature to market. This includes the creation of supporting documentation, market positioning statements, presentations, and demonstrations.
● Review and development of functional requirements to ensure that the customer experience, User Interface, and processes are consistent across the entire application.
● Design User Interfaces for products and develop guidelines for UI and user process design to ensure quality and consistency of user experience.
● Provide guidance to the Quality Assurance process to ensure delivered product meets original requirements.
● Support professional services, sales and marketing in the communication of the solutions to analysts, customers and partners through various mediums such as print, webinars, trade shows and meetings.
Required Skills/Experience:
● University degree in relevant discipline (Computer Science, Business, Marketing) MBA or Masters degree preferred.
● Familiar with the business process and information system requirements of large asset intensive industries (Oil, Gas, Chemicals, Pulp&Paper, A&D, etc.).
● 5+ years software product management experience.
● Industry experience in Master Data Management, Product Data Management, Lifecycle Product Data Management, Engineering Handover, and Maintenance, operations and supply chain/materials management.
● Experienced with the product management function in a growth oriented software company including UI design.
● Technically literate, familiar with emerging technologies and trends in information architecture.
● Ability to think strategically, analyze information, develop comprehensive business plans and execute and measure performance against plan.
● Work and think independently and as a team member to meet company objectives.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
● Good customer presence, communication and interpersonal skills with effective presentation skills.
● Strong interest in improving work processes using software technology and people effectively and efficiently.
● Highly motivated self starter with initiative and passion to succeed in an informal fast paced environment.
● Ability to understand and articulate the requirements and plans to both internal and external audiences.
● Ability to summarize a broad amount of information into concise key points.
● Good time management skills with ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
● Excellent work ethic, professional and dedicated.
● Specific knowledge of SAP Netweaver, composite applications and web services architecture an asset.
