Location: Toronto, ON Job Title: SOFTWARE DEPLOYMENT ENGINEER
Responsibilities/Duties:
● Providing input into the planning process; specifically working with the Project Manager and the Operations teams to agree acceptable deployment timescales which balance operational risk with meeting aggressive go-live dates.
● Managing software deployments to agreed timescales, escalating issues or deviations from the plan to the Project Manager or infrastructure Technical Lead.
● Continually developing the software deployment process in order to improve repeatability and manageability and reduce risk.
● Providing recommendations on the development and enhancement of the automated deployment tool which improve efficiency and manageability.
● Supporting the adoption of automated software deployment across all areas of the infrastructure.
● Providing expert knowledge and training on the automated deployment tool and software deployment process to other users in the business.
● Managing the ‘second stage’ process of building new infrastructure, and increasing the efficiency of this process through automation.
● Providing input into regular deployment activity reports.
● Supporting existing processes by adhering to them and encouraging others to do likewise, and raising non-compliance issues to the team leader where appropriate.
● Liaising with senior staff on issues that may affect the operational effectiveness of the infrastructure.
● Building good working relationships with staff from all areas of the business to achieve best results.
Required Skills/Experience:

Proven track record of working within a complex change managed computing environment.
●
Excellent practical knowledge of Linux, specifically RedHat 8 and Redhat Enterprise 4 and use of RPM Package Manager.
●
Capable of planning and prioritising own workload in a high pressure and time constrained environment.
●
Highly self-motivated and capable of working on own initiative as well as within a team.
●
Quality focused with excellent attention to detail.
●
Familiarity of working within a formal project management framework.
●
Proven troubleshooting skills.
●
Educated to degree standard in a computer related subject.
●
Experience of using a software deployment tool, preferably Managesoft Software Deployment Manager.
●
Experience of performing basic Cisco device configuration and troubleshooting.
●
Experience of working in an ITIL compliant environment.
●
Solid understanding of email and web proxy platforms and protocols.
●
Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
